RE: Waking Up with the World Mostly Still Asleep...

In reality we don't need guidance from anyone other than from within ourselves. The minute we look to another entity for guidance on what we should do is the first minute we begin to give away our freedoms.

We want guidance, because it's hard to know if we're doing the right thing, with so much conflicting information around us. We might think we have decided on our path and what is right, then something comes up to contradict it. If we follow the rules laid out by someone else, then maybe it won't matter if it has unexpected side affects, because we took the path we were told was the right one. Being responsible for ourselves is hard.

If I follow the speed limit and road rules, then I don't have to be responsible for my own actions while driving any more. I did the right thing, so I don't need to do anything else like take responsibility for being aware of what others might do on the road. It's not my fault if a child runs in front of me, I was following the rules and they didn't say I had to be prepared for others making mistakes that I might want to avoid.
