Thank you. He is a true friend and brother, and I would do absolutely anything for him. The violence here, while nothing like the US, is way out of control for a country so small, and they simply don't have the resources to do proper police work. Most of the violence is centered in Belize City, so it's still a safe country to visit, but it's a different story for locals, especially those living in Belize City. I hope we get a big payout too! Yes, mama! He has had such a tremendous impact, and I think it is so important to honor that. It's so easy to just go along doing what you're doing and not realize the tremendous impact of your actions. I love to help him when I can, and he has certainly helped me probably more than he knows. He actually built a beautiful drum for my Lulu for her 4th birthday. What he has done for this country and his people deserves abundant resources and accolades. If I can help by singing his praises, then I am grateful for the opportunity to do so.
The violence here in Belize is such a touchy subject because people don't want to detour tourists. The reality, though, is that tourists are pretty safe here, but the gang violence in Belize city coupled with some of the domestic violence and some high profile cases of child molestation resulting in death or serious injury recently are rocking the country. Unfortunately a lot of it results from Belizeans going to the US, getting involved in horrible shit, and then getting deported back here, and bringing that nonsense with them. They just aren't equipped to handle it. I still maintain, though, that all this darkness coming to light is ultimately a good thing because it allows us to see it and heal it. Much love, mama. That's an incredible story. Heroes are real and they live among us. They don't fly, wear masks or have super powers. Their strength goes beyond that they have a real effect, a positive one, on those living in their community. They are inspiring souls. Thank you for sharing Emmeth's story!
