Except that we're getting closer and closer to this. I remember when Wikipedia started and everyone started contributing. The main problem is about a lot of these sites like Khan Academy not offering credentials that are recognized by the government. But the basic knowledge is there.
Being a New York native I didn't spend a lot of money on college because CUNY was available. Main problem is that vocational education is expensive for example the "Financial Training Center" courses that people are always trying to shill for. Also stuff like, hair braiders having to go to courses on putting hair in a beehive, classes that cost 20K.
