With a high rate of urbanisation significant changes have take place. The effect of urbanisation can be summed up as follows, migration of rural people to urban areas, employment opportunities in urban centres, transport and communication facilities, educational facilities, increase in standard of living.
The modern school was brought to Nigeria, including the English language, originally by lord Thomas Babington Macaulay in the 1830s. The curriculum was confined to "modern" subject such as science and mathematics and subjects like metaphysics and philosophy were considered unnecessary. Teaching was confined to classroom and the link with nature was broken, as also the relationship between the teacher and the student. However certain villages which are close to the cities had been transformed changes occur in entire world not only in Nigeria.
Skilled and unskilled labour marked the difference, white collar job put on priority and education system manipulated by colonial master, an urbanisation & it's impact on education can be easily visualised, requirement of labour force made them to introduce western system of education, they educated human society just to cut cost of bringing employees from their native land and made huge profit. If we go in our glorious motto of education was self realisation, the ultimate aim of education was not knowledge as preparation of life in this world or for life beyond but for complete realisation of self for liberty in the solution fetters of life, both present and future, in today's life we are runny for luxuries, in the hassle we are not even noticing that our children, parent they are left far off, we are not bother where they are, we are calculating each and every thing in term of luxuries.
We give gadgets to student so that they won't feel isolated at the other hand we are expecting school to give values, a feel to each and every child so he can serve humanity, today we are having education to bridge up the gap of what we have and what we wish to have, somehow it's giving birth to crime as wish and desires can't be fulfilled by gadget and missing value system.
