The Inefficiencies Of The Education System

in #education21 days ago (edited)

There’s currently only so much that can be transferred through words or media, which everyone will absorb differently, but it has to be done if we want to maintain an reasonably educated population. If I look between the lines, I assume we (literary society) will probably get better at that balance between learning and education, but for the time being it is through physical contact that stuff like the abuela tortillas will hone the best tortilla. Which obviously would only be reserved for the people who have access to such resources.

And also at the same time we are more and more as a literary society pushing away the idea of a non-literary source. Which now that i think of it, is a very worrying trend, or not.

With regards to milk steaming. It is easier to learn from physical contact, because we inherently are familiar with that concept from our birth. But assuming then that the education are the milk steaming tutorials, there are so many complications with it (variance in goals from the viewers, there’s only so much you can fit in a video, not being able to give direct feedback, different machines, oversimplification), that it is just very hard for me of that video to reach my end goal (perfect milk texture consistently). Thus being very inefficient. Correct me if I’m wrong: because it is so inefficient, I can still get to my goal, but it will take an enormous amount of time and effort to get it done. When I could have just spend that time earning money for a latte art class with a world class latte artist (hyperbolically speaking) and gotten to the same result.

Am I thinking in the right direction as your answer or did i completely miss the mark? I just hope to respect the time and effort you’ve put in this wall of text to get the most out of it.

I do have to say, i have been a very lucky kid in that case. My high school teachers have given us space to think about what learning is about. But very important to note, only a very small fraction of my class was able to capitalize on that teaching method. I can only really think of myself and my best friend who have done that. Both of us were very bad in the “standard education system”. Where we read text and approached assignments very very differently to our peers(, and our grades weren’t very exeptional, only i was lucky to still be able to graduate from high school). My best friend is an incredibly intelligent person, one of the most intelligent people i know, and even though he didn’t graduate high school, i know he is the smartest of our class. It is just incredibly sad that he is “stuck in the education system”.
