Writing this with reference to my country's system.. Not discrediting it but calling to mind an issue that needs our attention... ππ
The truth we ignore
Personally, i think the school system no longer hold its values and as well as the believe to accomplish its mission and vision statements.
The structural values the system should hold is dwindling.
It's no longer learning to become knowledgeable but most time to just pass and be done.
The school has become a place where lecturers threaten students and nothing is done about it because of the fear of running in cycles.
We hear about cases of sorting, sexual harassments and other issues of victimization but no cogent impact is felt to change the status quo.
It is sad that
the people called to impact knowledge to others out of willingness and love for it, have become hounds forgetting their ethical beliefs.
Forgetting that someday, those they mistreat will not be in school and might cross paths againπ€·.
The student government placed in power to represent the students by following the doctrine of equity, instead prioritize political favouritism and politics and incessant strikes than looking out for the average student.
We need to remember this,
how would you feel if the same act of victimization is meted out to your own child, relative or a child you hold in high esteem.
Instead of just keeping quiet to callous behaviour portrayed by the people supposed to groom the future Leaders, take a stance and if in a position you know you can help, stand up against it and if you can help but won't, we pray you out.
Let's be the change we want to see... Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step
