You're not alone. I started homeschooling my son in March after years of trying to negotiate with his schools to follow his IEP properly. There are homeschooling groups that conduct field trips depending on your area if you are concerned about socialization. There are also the after school programs and activities like you describe. The school does not have the right to co-parent and go against your wishes. There are so many things that I get to teach my son that the school will not. Philosophy, religion and computer programming are only a few examples.
