Children should at least be asked, and shown the picture that is to be shared online, if they are fine with it. They have the right to be respected if they don't want their faces to be shown publicly.
The situation with baby picture sharing is a bit trickier since they obviously can't communicate with us. But considering that there is such a thing as "role playing with stolen photos", I wouldn't risk it. But if it was a must, I would put my own face in the same picture to at least reduce some risk from the baby to be "kidnapped".

Good point @celestal however they can use pgotoshop and remove your picture and then use your baby pic for thier adds . I am sure that you know photoshop ...thanks for your comment
Yes, that is true. The same thought crossed my mind too.
Our current technologies are amazing...still we msut not leave in fear , we just have to be smarter and more careful
