I find it interesting that you want to teach about logic and learn about faith. I think faith brings more joy than logic, from my personal experience.

Nowadays yes, you have vast ammounts of languages to choose from. Also you need to have a creative mind to come up with programs on your own. Knowing math helps you along as well. https://nodeschool.io looks like a decent project indeed.
