School Perseverance Week in Quebec : Explaining the Secret of Success to Children

in #education7 years ago

Hello,

I wrote a lot about the subject of education a few weeks ago, then I dropped the subject to let myself be carried away by other passions ... But this week is the week of perseverance school in Quebec. And as persevering, it is essential to the success, I propose you this post.

Education, my job as a teacher, remains my first passion, the one I live every day. My husband is also a school principal ... also on Steemit @pipons.

For those who do not know, I teach 2nd year for two years, after a 6 years experience in school management and fourteen years in the 6th year. Finally, I have twenty years of experience in my field ... that time flies! In fact, going back to basics, teaching was the best of all decisions.

To face twenty children daily, whose needs are important ... motivates me enormously. I am not a half-measure person, I am interested in them and wish them much success, even if they are sometimes far from the account ...

This is what I am hammering as a message to my 7 and 8 year old students. And I believe it. I do not give up.

R = E X S

Succeed = Efforts X Strategies

Many children's designs are based on the following belief ...

"If I fail, it's because I'm not smart."

In truth, here is the message that we must reframe as an educator.

"If you fail, it's because you did not use the right strategies, and you did not practice enough (the efforts), that's all."

Here is the logic.

If we give a lot of effort but we DO NOT USE THE RIGHT WAYS TO DO THINGS, we are heading towards failure. If we do NO EFFORT but we use the right strategies, the results will be the same ... There is no magic: practice-practice-practice and have a method of work, strategies, a good teacher. These ingredients are essential in order to achieve success.

Anyone can succeed, it's about doing the right thing, and working hard. I like to believe that it's true or that it can inspire my students not to give up, to persevere ...

Good week of perseverance school to all!

Love this formula.
Exactly efforts done without a proper strategy get wasted. One needs to come up with a proper game plan too. Loved your post :)

It have to be simple for the young kids... and it works! Thanks for sharing your comments!

I think success in education is a very subjective term. Often children are seen as 'unsuccessful' at school or disruptive because I believe they havent found their passion. Not everyone wants to be book smart.

I think we as educators (Im early childhood trained) should one in on what the child enjoys and nirture that - we obviously need to still teach them maths science etc but we need to work out a way that works for each individual
