Wow. This was an interesting post. Thanks! I've been a teacher but never primary or pre-school so have zero expertise here but it does strike me as somewhat strange that parents aren't allowed the reassurance of meeting the teachers. Have you ever asked the head teacher direct? They must have a reason and the truth may surprise you. But if that I was you it would have to be a very good reason indeed because all sensible moms know that barriers of silence are NOT protection for their children (that's how I would think anyway). Please find out the reason and enlighten us if you can :)

I haven't really asked. I think it might be due to the large amount of different cultures and nationalities living here as expats in the UAE. This is probably just a way to protect these teachers from angry parents as they might not know what to expect from different cultures and their way of doing things. Next time I'm there, I will be sure to suck my pride and ask casually ;)
