Bah, that word has always scared me.
And it has a scary sound too.
A diminished chord gives the sense of uncertainty and can sound great after a major chord, but don't stop there, finish off with a minor chord right next door to it.
As shown below.
The point of the exercise here is to memorize the diminished shape on the A string.
