This article from zerohedge talks about how the common core math initiative is destroying young americans ability to truly understand the fundamentals of how math works. I get what theyre trying to do bc ive always thought out of the box and after learning math the traditional way, i have personally took similar approaches and shortcuts. The thing is, not every student or peron learns this way. And theyre taking a backwards approach that is separate from how the rest of the world handles math.
I fear this will further hinder the growth of technological and computer science education in the country. Areas that are already signficantly missing in early education. I read before how in 10 years there will be like millions of tech jobs in the US and no one to fill them. Yet this twisted country doesnt want to let the genius "immigrants" in .... who I honestly think is needed if this country wants to keep up with the rest of the world in terms of tech......

I have looked at the Zero Hedge article in the link. What the heck is the "new way" for 32 - 12 = 20? I have never seen that nor I have used it.
The counting up subtraction method in the second image just seems unnecessary to me. 325 - 38 could be thought of 325 - 30 - 8 = 287.
True, but the disease is not confined to the USA; the UK authorities also do a good job of talking out of both sides of their mouth.
