RE: Adsactly Education - 21st Century Democracy

in #education7 years ago

For Venezuelans (I emphasize that I am Venezuelan) to talk about democracy is almost a myth. We live in theory and according to your definition a Representative Democracy mixed with Socialism, but nothing comes close to the issue or the definition since everything is a vile lie, a disguised tyranny. Despite having free consultation elections, having a constitution that allows us to call recall referendums, elections of parliamentary members, etc. etc. None of this is put into practice, everything directly controlled by the government, totalitarian elections where the entity is the government itself, a simple curtain worldwide. We live in a state of supreme oppression, where day by day the will of the people is bowed down. I was very impressed by your post, because in these times and in my country we specifically have a dream of Democracy, of a true Democracy. Thank you!!

I very carefully and purposefully did not mention many governments for one simple reason. That what a government calls itself and what it is might be two entirely different things. No neutral outside observer would confuse Venezuela with a working democracy.

Thanks for a great comment. I feel for your country and your countrymen.
