WHEN COPPERHEADS ATTACK!

in #education7 years ago

Venomous snakes are terrifying for many people.

While most snakes may be harmless, some are indeed equipped with powerful venom that can hurt or even kill. Snakebites can be a common occurrence in certain locations, but it seems that many people in almost every location have a fear of these creatures.

Down in the Ozarks, the Copperhead is one of the more common venomous species of snakes. In this video, @papa-pepper explains what really happens when certain venomous snakes "attack" people.

WHEN COPPERHEADS ATTACK!!!

Don't try this at home... or anywhere.

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

That is a beautiful snake! Good sized too. They like smaller mammals like mice, soo they are beneficial around the homestead, if you do not have little kids close. With kids, relocate it, there are other, safer snakes, that do the same job.

I like the way that you think! My exact belief system! Thanks!

When my brother was 5, he got into a nest of copperheads. We had a large terrier, and he jumped in the middle of them. He wiped them out, even the small ones. Dad had to pick up snake pieces for hours so we wouldn't step on them. My brother wasn't hurt. The dog was covered in blood, but not a single bite! My Dad went to the butcher, and got his favorite cut of meat for that brave dog! So get yourself at least one terrier, LOL!

Living dangerously, but it's for educational purposes. :)

Indeed, mostly, it's for the children....

Have to think of those children... :D

Thanks papa we just had one here in Florida in the mulch out by the front stairs. We kind of chased it away as best we could bit it is in a very populated area with kids etc which worries me a bit. Always appreciate your videos and learn from them.

I still like snakes no matter what, I don't mind getting bit again, I know how to save myself (worst case scenario )

Btw is this lil guy your pet?

Nope, he's wild!

If I'll dare to take my head nearer to a snake like that? Nah! My mama still loves me lol. I cringe when I see snakes but @papa-pepper has got some balls tho.

Are those venomous snakes deadly?

Not really, just venomous....

They are poisonous, handling them right reduces the risk. He is taking a calculated risk.

It is best to leave all wild animals alone in their own habitat. If you leave them alone, they won't attack you!

We have those here and a few rattlesnakes.
I don't mind snakes if I see them far enough away, I just bypass them.
If I end up too close before I see them, bang...

  • I carry my 9mm pistol when I go morel hunting.
  • It's in the pickup when I go fishing...

Oh wow. Just thought of... Do you have those blue racers? I hate those things. They raise their head up about a foot and chase you! haha Little boogers!!!

Wow! Copperhead snakes? ... Haven't heard about it. The video did all the enlightenment there.

@papa-pepper always educating his audience of which i am proud to be one.

But i do hate snakes tho... Got a snake-phobia.

very beautiful post my friend very happy to see her friend please help me friend@papa-pepper

I am very afraid of this reptile. Yeah, I heard that they don't attack until you mean any harm to them. Stil,l it is safe to keep distance I guess!

This denjerous animals, when I see snacks I'm nervous.... thanks for sharing....

Yes, I am still very afraid of the name of the snake. But you are very brave to take them from close range. Maybe you have a special trick how to approach poisonous snakes. And also has a tremendous courage. Good luck always for you @papa-pepper.

Snakes don't really bother me, held one or two in the past, close to the face.. i feel they pick up on our senses more than the reaction when approaching..Its clever how they can move quickly from the way their structure is built.

You're so fearless! I can't even dare to face snakes.

Thunderous pepper. I thought the copperhead was poisonous. How do you get to hold it that way without getting bitten?

Having kids an knowing that the venom of most of these deadly snake can kill them instantly makes me pretty afraid of them.

Yes papa have saw it once i run, am so scare of it

Ohh boy, harmless or not I’m really scared of it! Thanks for the explanation @papa-pepper.

I took my kiddos to a venom extraction at the reptile zoo. He was extracting cottonmouth venom that day. It was a retired police officer making medicines. He'd been bitten 11 times by poisonous snakes. Missing a few fingers, but loved his job. Kiddos loved the video.

Wow, nice catch! Boy, he didnt look happy with you! :D
Kudos on catching and relocating rather than just killing him...

Yikes, You are very brave sir ♥

If I saw one of those copperheads I'd have a mini-heart attack. :D I'm glad you are so careful when you do these videos. :D Your willingness to do these videos to help entertain and educate us all at the same time is much appreciated. :D
God bless you and the whole pepper clan. :D Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! :D

Educational moment but dangerous.

if this is a dangerous snake, you have to be very careful with this snake,
but this also as your educational material, how to deal with a dangerous snake.
this is very cool friend.

I salute you. Dare you hold a snake like that ..

I mean, at least it could have the decency to be a gold head

Question: In CA, we have rattlesnakes. Older ones will dry bite because they really are only suppose to use their venom for prey (food). Do most snakes do that?

Children do not have the instinct of self-preservation, so your video is very useful!

This may sound a little weird, but that's a cute snake ;-)

It did seem really docile too. is is because it is early in spring still and it is still lethargic, or was it just happy to be hanging with @papa-pepper? ;-)

Did you relocate him? That is what we did with the python found here in the gutter of my house. We have many snakes you can use your tongs on! Even cobras! Might call you crazy-papa-pepper! I have a friend in Texas that used to catch the big rattlers.
I have come across copperheads quite a few times. Usually when fishing on a path or in the woodpile.
Nice post!

i still find it very disturbing your addiction for snakes.

do you ever get bitten? how did you handle the situation

Thanks for the education man, I like the way you explained the reason why these snakes. Got to say you're pretty great man 👊🏾
