I think that perception, is falling victim to governments current agenda's -another Orwellian strategy, to keep us scared. In a state of fear.
Populations in fear are malleable, and all I see at the moment are governments, coercing with media (different head of the same snake), pushing ANY narrative that paralyzes rational reasoned thoughts in adults.
And your own child, or other close relatives is the easiest target possible, to do this.
It's a psychopaths playground. They are(with sociopathy) around 3% of the population.
I find it hard to believe anyone, except these twisted genetic anomalies, would pursue children, for any sick gratification.
So before social media, etc - there was still the same % of sick fucks in the population -
( I would argue social media, and the digital world, may be increasing these percentages.- especially as sociopathy can be 'a learned' pattern of behavior from peers (can be undone ?- maybe, I don't know)
So less emotive hysteria based on media reports (and there reliable statistics), and more empiricism, would go a long way.
Ostracism, historically , has been the tool for these social ills -
(or death, either sounds acceptable to me)
But I don't see how this can transmute into modern life

Good point, however those twisted genetic anomalies unfortunately are Prevalent in our social media moving like vultures in search of prey and many people hand it over to them
ok so using the numbers we know of 3% - Its the same sicko's doing it, over and over again.- the % stays the same, but made to look disproportionate. 1 sicko doing it a 1000 times, comes up as 1000 hits - but it is one sicko.
preying in virtual reality is very different than actual reality.

If finding these people is really the end result, and not a scare tactic, the media would be all over the powers that be, where a disproportionate amount are in plain view.
Just look at the total whitewash in the UK rotherham child abuse case - this goes on time after time, and the media hardly cover it....it's in the thousands of high profile cases that don't progress- police officers losing their jobs if they investigate etc.
IF it's not a government psy-op to create fear - these things would be headlining everyday, never off the news -not reports about 'the dangers' of kids photos online.
Good point however 1 sicko can destroy many lives and no one would want his loved ones to be compromised isnt it?
