Great content as always, @jrswab! As usual, you talk about some very important things for people to keep in mind here on Steemit.
It is one thing to spread the word about a shady character that has shown up on steem but a total issue when writing about someone with a history of making good content. Bad-mouthing someone who puts in the time and effort to create original is just going to make you look bad.
I never did understand why so many people were out to get Jerry and then even his wife after she came to Steemit. People dedicated entire posts to ridiculing/mocking him...and they were actually making money!
I couldn't believe it!
As bloggers our jealousy creeps up when seeing other people do better than us. We are writing content just as good if not better and yet they seem to always be getting the attention we deserve. Or at least we think we do...
It is easy to fall into this trap when we spend hours on a blog post and maybe get three upvotes. Then we turn around and someone publishes a weak post and ends up on the trending page.
This is indeed such a terrible pitfall...I used to always get so resentful when I would pour my heart and soul into a post and then it wouldn't get the critical acclaim that I thought it deserved...it tended to really zap my motivation back in the day.
But now I have come to realize that the only success that matters is how I define my own successes based on previous versions of myself and my work. I don't need to compare myself to anyone else on here because my stuff is different from everyone else on here. I determine for myself what success means on here. :)
So here is what I did. Instead of looking at all my friends doing better than I in viewership and gaining resentment for my lack of success. All that was needed was to spend time each day giving thanks for all the blessings in my life and in my streams.
This is so important! I start my day with a morning ritual, the beginning of which is stating aloud everything I am grateful for, as soon as I awaken into full consciousness. I've found that it really helps to set a positive mood for the rest of the day when you start it by taking some time to acknowledge all that you are grateful for.
You get it mate! Thank you for the amazing comment!
