I think steems biggest advantage is its ability to be built ontop of (dtube,utopian,dsound ect.) and how aspiring writers can get paid without having to enter a professional position, thus meaning lots of people who wouldn't otherwise create content, do so.

Good point however we are discussing about steemit which is diffrent to steem
At it's core, steemit is just a visual representation of the steem blockchain and many of it's problems like bot abuse / shitposting / making 12 posts a day and getting huge payouts on all of them can all be fixed or at least affected on the blockchain level - people who post with busy and other dapps may only visit steemit once in their life to sign up.
