For a couple centuries, the human race focused on raising the youths by imposing a regime of fear and/or sacrifice. Over the years, i think this mentality led to a rather narrow-minded and dogmatic way of being.
However, in a short time, it seems that humanity slowly becomes to be more empathic and more receptive to logical truth. And how can this have originated? Here's my insight on the topic.
Do not treat your apprentices as a possession of your own
Free will is dictated by human nature, and each and everyone of us should be taught on how to make our own decisions, instead of them being decided by a parent or a tutor. I think that people try to rule over other people's decisions because its kind of inevitable to not advise according to our own perspective.
But on the other side we can always try to empathize with the idea that each life is a different one, and the best we can do is show what we know.
Opening doors for others
If we start showing the various paths that each one can take in life and show our insight or personal experience on a certain matter, we are opening a door. This door will permit access for the exploration of the subject, and having the previous knowledge makes us much closer to what would be our best decision.
So i think that making people aware of the options they have is much more healthy than traditional education based on prohibition.
Go in with an open mind
We are changing ourselves and the world around us at an accelerating pace every second, and it's not always easy to adapt quickly to a dramatic change of events in our life. This happened when various people had trouble with identifying themselves with the new technologies.
But if we go into situations with an open mind and a focus for seeing what's behind the closed door, we are transceding into newer versions of ourselves. And close mindedness still exists in good amount nowadays: people not being able to get over their dogmas makes them less vulnerable to learn about the according subject.
So true! Resteemed ;)
