Most people might find this topic controversial... Mind you I am not an army general who wages war, but an humble writer sharing an opinion.
In my country, Nigeria, most people go to school in other to get a good job . It seems reasonable enough right but how reasonable is it when there are no jobs for graduates?. Our parents know this and tell us to go to school because it gives us an upper hand in other too struggle to survive.
Education is made difficult in our country by it's constant demand for already easily accessible facts. For example in my country an average high school student is expected to cram the periodic table, while an average science college student is expected to cram constants. Why do we do this, in real life (i.e when we start working) such information will be readily available.
My high school examinations were much tougher than the external examinations but now I am in college I see we just went through unnecessary torture in high school. What were they preparing us for cause it's definitely not for the real world?
Education should be aimed at encouraging intellectual growth and not mass-production of brainy zombies !
