There are stories and narrations for many areas in the mountains There is Saint Catherine Monastery This monastery was built in 545 AD

The monastery contains a historical church with ancient gifts from kings and princes, including chandeliers of silver and the well of Moses, as it was built around the tree of Moses that caught fire, so Moses guided it to speak to his Lord, and they say about it that attempts were made to cultivate it outside the monastery, but it failed and that it does not grow Anywhere outside the monastery.
The monastery represents a piece of multiple historical art. There are Arab mosaics, Russian and Greek icons, oil paintings, wax engraving, and more.
The monastery also contains a library of manuscripts which are said to be the second largest manuscripts libraries after the Vatican, and a hostel for visitors and a distinctive archaeological tower of bells
In addition to the remains of Saint Catherine, there is a monastery (Moadamah) containing the remains of all the monks who lived in the monastery and it is permitted to visit from the early morning until noon after that it closes its doors to visitors so that the monks devote themselves to their religious duties.
All Western tourists and others are obliged to be dressed when entering the monastery, and there are loose gowns worn by people who wanted before entering the monastery.
The only entrance to the monastery was a small door 30 feet high, and was designed to protect the monastery from strangers and intruders, as people were hoisting and piling with a box driven by a system of winches and pulleys. Now there is a small door below the monastery wall.
