Hello, Steemit!
I continue the theme of Christmas cards with rare species of animals for the competition from the World Wildlife Fund.
This time I chose a polar bear and changed the art materials to watercolor.
This is my stylized postcard.
First, I drew the contours with a pencil.
Started to paint with the background. Painted the sky with a purple hue, obtained by mixing kraplak red and ultramarine. With klaplak very clearly marked the glow of the northern lights in the sky. With ultramarine drew transparent shadows on the snow.
Passed to the central figure of a bear. For the coat color, I used the same purple color as in the sky. By fine strokes tried to show the direction of the hairs.
Similarly, painted over white cubs.
At the final stage, I drew the top of the sky with pure ultramarine, highlighted the bottom of the sky with a ceruleum, strengthened the detailing on the bears, added red and yellow reflexes to the picture from the glow in the sky. Picture is ready.
I added a congratulatory inscription on the picture. The postcard is ready.

Hmmm great idea from World Wildlife Fund for sure! I'm wondering, do you have to submit them physically somewhere. Or can you keep them? If it'd paint something like this I wouldnt want to give it away haha :D Maybe send it some relatives could go :D Nice work Kleo ;) Confratz on the big curie upvote as well and.....well, fuck it it's already November...Merry Christmas!!! hahahah :D

beautiful white bears are waiting for the magic of Northern Light or as it is said in Russian "северное сияние" You created the atmosphere of that very well, the watercolor is exactly right medium to reflect the magic of Polar light. Love the bear mother and two cute bear babies :)

Though I do not see both parents, that is still a very good painting of a lovely polar bear family! They are very cute and adorable. I also love the bluish background. It looks so serene. The drawing really in time for the coming Christmas. 😊

Beautiful @kleonella! I love that you used a little bit of pink/purple. It looks so sweet. The bears are adorable. I love their faces. Their eyes and smiles are so cute. I also like your landscape and beautifully colored sky. It's a perfect postcard to send for Christmas/New Year.
