I wrote another article on Elya's new roadmap and tech a few months back. The article was titled Elya is 1 year old - now comes new tech and a green transformation. So to understand the project and background head there first unless you are already familiar with Elya.
Lately the Elya development team has been working on a new mobile wallet. The wallet has not been released yet, but one of the functions it will provide is already available as a web service. That is you can now transfer airtime from one Elyatel number or SIM card to another. The service for Elya SIM card users is available here.
Now this may not seem like much, but let's think again.
The Elya airtime is stored on your phone's Elyatel SIM card. That is your Elya crypto hardware wallet at the same time. Now what comes out of this is rather interesting. Think how small a step away this technology is from a full-fledged crypto bank and crypto payment solution on your phone. Yes, a very small step indeed.
A mobile crypto payment solution is truly the holy grail of blockchain. There are numerous blockchain projects trying to achieve just that. Elya can have a very powerful position on this market. One of the reasons is that the SIM card acts as a hardware wallet for crypto storage. Moreover Elya will soon be able to operate transactions without an internet connection by using plain SMS messaging.
It's probably too early to declare that Elya will take over Western Union or similar giants on the current money transfer and payment processing market. But it is in a very promising stage right now.
