Having a clean inbox is a great way to stay organized, wouldn’t you agree? Imagine if you opened your email only to get blasted with tons and tons of junk mail. How would you get to the really important emails then? I feel like many of us have this problem, It adds to our digital clutter, and it makes us stressed without us realizing it. Keeping our emails clean also makes us feel good because we accomplished a task. Keeping every aspect of your life clean, And clutter free is important.
Every day, spammers send well over a billion spam emails. If you are not careful, you can end up receiving a good chunk of them. Here are several ways you can keep your email organized, and avoid getting spam-bombed by every spammer out there.
- Come Up With Rules, Labels, and Filters
Almost every email vendor out there has some mechanism that allows you to develop labels, rules or filters on your account. All these allow you to organize incoming email neatly pre-designated folders. Take advantage of these features to sort out your emails into specific categories. Gmail already comes pre-equipped with labels that categorize social emails and promotional emails, separating it from other incoming mail.
Tip
For your rules, you can separate important email from the rest, and set them in their separate folder. Highlight and select individual important email addresses so that emails from these addresses always end up in the important folder.
-Delete
Never be afraid to delete emails. After reading an email, you should immediately decide what to do with that email. If it is not of any importance, delete it. If you want to refer to it at a later date, you can archive it. Since not every email calls for a response, delete most emails you do not need in the future. Doing so de-clutters your inbox.
- Come Up With Canned Responses
If you find yourself replying to several emails using the same message over and over again, create a list of these common replies. Then write the reply somewhere else on your computer, and you can copy paste it whenever you need it. You can even use Evernote for this one!
- Avoid Exposing Your Email Address
Posting your email address in public places is a great way of inviting spammers. There are millions of bots scour the internet for email addresses. Once these bots find your email, they give it to their spam masters who will then nuke your email with junk mail. Some people get hit so hard that they have to open a new email. Also, unsubscribe to those emails that you no longer need. That way they don't waste your time everyday when you have to delete all of them.
- Avoid Subscribing On Every Website
If you don’t need to subscribe to a website, don’t. Most of the times you’re tempted by offers on these sites, but you should always resist. These tempting offers are lures to give out your email. When you do, expect unsolicited emails every day of the week. IF you decide to subscribe be sure to unsubscribe when the articles no longer have interest for you.
I have a problem with stupid emails too!
Delete, delete, delete... delete, delete, oh here's one I actually care about!
One thing:
Very good advice! BUT if a spammer is sending you emails, meaning you got some emails from someone you didn't originally subscribe to -- Don't click their "unsubscribe" button!
First, you will be going to a web page that could have a virus, or worse.
Second, the sender is already illegally sending you spam emails so they probably will not honor your unsub request.
Third, they will now sell your email to others, and market it as an Active Email account, which will get them more money for your email address and cause other spammers to email you because they know you are still using that address, since you read an email to it and responded by clicking unsub!
Just my 2 steem cents on the subject! :D
I hate those people that sell email addresses, LIke REALLY!?
True I agree with you. Just don't click the SPAM button on Entrepreneurs please! Just click SPAM on the real spammers hehe.
You definitely want to be careful not to get a virus on your computer.
I'm an entrepreneur too! So no worries on that. :D
hahahaha.
really stupid :-D
Well thank you for letting me know how stupid you think my article is :P
Hahahaha.
It's not like that.
I was just laughing the same title of your article only.
not with the whole.
because a little funny your article title:-D
I'm just teasing you :) I caught that hehee!!
hahaha, you win, because it's already managed to tempt me.
During this time belom there who successfully tempt me Besides you hahaha:-D
one hundred for you. : V
I see that you self-critical))
What?
Your article stupid, what to write to the fool :D
What ahahah!?!
haha,,,, :d
nice post
Thanks XD
I have already given up on my gmail account (Google will sell the content to advertisers anyway) and only use that for unimportant stuff now. Got an encrypted email account for all the important stuff.
I'm glad you got a new email then, That sounds really annoying. I personally have my own website email, also I use a yahoo and I don't have any problems. I just do it for sorting purposes.
A one more trick - if you think a letter is a spam - inform your e-mail provider about. It also helps a bit.
I didn't think about that one! you can actually contact them? I know you can press the "Spam" button to have them blocked. Although I don't recommend it for everyone, Because self employed people like me, are harmed by that button. So it's best if you only press it when it's actually spam. Not like a newsletter (there is an unsubscribe button on the bottom.)
Clean email would be neat
For me that'd be no easy feat
I feel the need to reply
Even to those that should die
So cleaning and pruning do me no good
Even when standing where I've stood
I dig and I bury the true crap away
Yet no matter there it'll not stay
Thank you for trying and taking the time
Your next cup of coffee shall be on my dime
This is amazing hahaha
Your article stupid, what to write to the fool :D
