Closer to becoming a law, the Security of Tenure bill recently passed by the Senate will enhance the enjoyment of workers’ constitutional rights to job security, the labor department said over the weekend.
“It won’t take long before this SOT bill becomes a law. And we are grateful to our senators for taking one giant step to end ‘Endo’ and guarantee the workers’ statutory right to security of tenure,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said.
The SOT is one of DOLE’s priority legislative measures that has been certified as urgent by the President. It aims to amend the Labor Code on the prohibition of labor-only contracting and other provisions that allow contracting arrangements.
