I've been doing pro 360 shooting for a little while now. You are right, Its only just at the very beginning stages and the tech probably isn't quite there for large scale platforms. Although youtube has sucessfully implimented a strong 360vr platform for hosting and viewing.
As you say, potentially a 360 video comunity on here is a better option to kickstart a smaller movement.
