Just imagine how much time has been spent engineering this monster. Then how many man hours it took to manufacture all the components, assemble them. How much raw material went into it: cables, wires, computers, steel, plastics. Imagine how much energy it took to create this rig and then how much more of all these ingredients to haul it out to sea, flip it into a standing position, install it in the sea and to run the whole thing. Energy Return o Energy Invested is rapidly shrinking as our civilization approaches the decline of cheap energy. #peakoil
