Lost friendships

in #eng2 years ago

Good evening hivers. This is the second post I have written on Hive since I joined. What motivated me to open an account on Hive was definitely curiosity towards this platform that rewards content creators with their cryptocurrency based on the votes it receives, but also the possibility to share with you some of my personal thoughts and events in my daily life as one usually does in a blog. Starting with an event that happened to me last night, I would like to share my thoughts about friendships that are lost.

Last night I attended a dinner with a group of old school friends. From eleven, a couple of hours before the date, we became three.

Yes, only three people saw fit to stick to their commitment, perhaps because, evidently, it really pleased them. The others, using the most disparate excuses, disappeared.

In the photo, four children embrace each other in complicity and happiness. Soon, they will be four hurried and hyper-busy adults but, probably, they will still find time to enjoy some chit-chat over a coffee, or, why not, call each other every other every other day to tell each other all the details of their daily lives.
However, things do not always go as expected when they are young.

Life, after all, is like that. One grows, one changes, one sets new goals, and with them one has different needs.

The friend who previously seemed to be the perfect guardian of your secrets, sweet and friendly, now appears austere and glacial. Perhaps, without a husband and children, it was easier to retain a certain carefreeness and enjoy endless afternoons and evenings together.
If, however, this is no longer the case, it is good to give it a rest and move on, without arguing.

Simply let time take the memories of a happy past with it, leaving room in the hard disk of your soul for so much wonderful that is yet to come. Not with her, but with someone else who will really appreciate you as much as you deserve.
Clinging to relationships that are now extinct, only out of the displeasure of destroying something that was beautiful, leads, all too often, to spoiling a present that could be just as radiant.

Let go of those who no longer have any interest in remaining in your world, and open up to the new.

Thank you.
