Greetings, how are you steemit friends? Glad to meet you again and hopefully healthy always, today I will discuss the use of materials in construction work, especially the use of PVC on ceiling work, hopefully useful.

As we have seen, the ceiling is the dividing layer between the room and a roof area and does not include structural elements so that in some construction works, to save costs and time many people do not use the ceiling as an interior element because it is considered not too important, but is that right?

Should we know more closely, what is the ceiling.

CEILING

The ceiling is an interior element that is above the surface of the room, the ceiling can be made of various materials such as wood, gypsum PVC, asbestos, and others.

Ceiling work becomes important, as some rooms require certain settings to produce aesthetics and ceiling functions, as in opera houses where ceilings become one of the key aspects of sound quality.

Some advantages of a room that uses a ceiling.[source]

  1. Reduce the heating temperature
  2. Prevent dirt from falling due to dirty roof space
  3. The room looks cleaner
  4. Improve interior aesthetics
  5. Covering Electrical installation, plumbing etc.

The ceiling also serves as a heat storage, during the day, a heating temperature generated from a sun sting is stored in a roof space due to the ceiling and at night the hot temperature is released slowly into the room.

Architecturally, the ceiling can be used as a comforting element to residents of the house, the ceilings must be designed according to the calculation and technical analysis.

Ceiling material is often used.

  1. Asbestos
The size of asbestos is often encountered in the field is 1x1 m and 50x50 cm, this type of ceiling is usually installed using wood frames or hollow iron as a binder so as not to fall.
This type of ceiling is often used because it is easy to find and has a low maintenance cost.
This type of ceiling is easily broken or cracked if not handled carefully.[source]

  2. Triplex
Triplex is a type of material that is often used as a ceiling, plywood is often used as a ceiling has thick 3.4 and 6 mm. Triplex sheets can usually be directly mounted on wooden frames of 4/6 or 5/7 cm, the frame is made with the size 60x60 cm.
Triplex has a cheap price and easy to can because the triplex is made of wood, then this type of ceiling is not waterproof and fire.[source]

  3. Acoustics
This type of ceiling can reduce the noise generated in the room, has a size 60x60 cm and 60x120 cm and can be installed like a plywood ceiling work.
Because it is rarely used in the home, making the acoustic ceiling is expensive and rare so you have to spend extra energy to obtain this type of ceiling.
Another major disadvantage is that the acoustic ceiling is not waterproof.[source]

  4. Gypsum
In some areas, this type of ceiling is widely used because the ceiling is neater and not visible connection between sheets. This ceiling is mounted on a wooden frame or a hollow iron making it almost identical to other types of ceiling work.
Gypsum is not resistant to water, moisture and susceptible to fracture if not done carefully.[source]

  5. GRC (Glassfiber Reinforced Cement Board)
This type of ceiling has a thickness of at least 4 mm and uses wooden frames or hollow iron as anchoring.
GRC is a type of waterproof ceiling, anti-fire, lightweight and easy to do. Due to the rigid nature of the concrete causing the GRC type of ceiling cannot stand the impact.[source]

  6. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
This type of ceiling is usually molded like a sheet of board and has interlocking locks to be able to connect with other sheets better.
PVC ceiling can be easily done because it is very light and does not require special labor to complete the work and cheap.

Some types of ceiling require experts when done or because the rarity of the use of certain types of ceilings make the ceiling is difficult to find or even expensive.

I will specifically discuss the use of PVC type ceiling, considering some advantages over other types of ceilings.

USE OF PLAFON POLYVINYL CHLORIDE

Polyvinyl chloride has long been used by humans, especially as the main ingredient of water pipe manufacturers. In 1838, Sir Henry Victor Regnault invented PVC but refined and patented by Sir Henrich August Klatte in 1913 and mass produced in 1950 as a construction material.[source]

PVC has an excess of fire resistance so it is considered suitable for use as a construction material so that in 1970 in Europe has been developed the use of PVC as a wall and ceiling.

In the year 2000an various PVC products from China are present to meet a needs of the Indonesian market, PVC products are offered highly qualified and relatively inexpensive cause the use of PVC ceiling increasingly widespread.

Excess PVC Ceiling[source]

  • Cheap
  • Easy to do
  • Fire and water resistant
  • Many motives
  • Save installation time
  • Hold rust and termites
  • Soundproof
  • Durable
  • Light

Material made from PVC is actually also harmful to health because it can cause several diseases and can lead to evaporation of hydrochloric acid if burned.[source]

In Aceh now has many stores that provide the type of PVC ceiling, you can buy the ceiling and install it yourself, but you can also ask for help contractor to install it at your house, usually if you use the services of contractors you have to pay based on the ceiling area that must be installed complete with material .

Calculating the Ceiling Area to work on

You only need to calculate the area of the room to be installed the ceiling, the contractor will provide all the equipment and materials needed to complete a job.

If you have a bedroom with a size of 4.00x4.00 then the area to be done is 16.00 m2, so you only need to make multiplication unit price per m2, very easy I think.

CONCLUSION

This type of ceiling PVC can be used as an alternative material ceiling, this type of ceiling is considered cheaper because it does not require finishing work and more durable.

In PVC type ceilings work should use a sturdy frame, considering the width of PVC that can be disrupted due to age factor can cause the ceiling off of the frame.

PVC type material should be used wisely because it can be according to some experts, this type of material can make health impaired.

You should consult with a building or health expert before you decide to use PVC material as a ceiling.
