Meaning of the Uruguayan coat of arms!

The Uruguayan National Coat of Arms is approved by the laws of March 19, 1829, July 12, 1906 and the decree of October 26, 1908. The official model of the national coat of arms corresponds to that presented by Mr. Miguel H. Coppetti. The Shield, has the following conformation:

☺An oval divided into four quarters and crowned by a sun

☺Scale: symbol of equality and justice, placed on blue enamel in the upper quarter on the left.

☺Cerro (Hill) of Montevideo: symbol of strength. In the upper right quarter on silver enamel

☺Horse: symbol of freedom, in the lower quarter of the left on silver enamel

☺Ox: symbol of abundance, in the lower quarter of the right on blue enamel

The rising sun: because the sun comes out from the east

☺Laurel: for the battles that the country won

☺Olives: for the battles the country lost

☺Lace that unites them: the national flag
