This kid is making a bit of a mess. Nobody will hold that against him because of his age.

To hold something against somebody means not forgiving someone because of something they did or having a lower opinion of them because of something they did.

Example sentence:

  • It shouldn't be held against him because what he did was an accident.
  • You failed your mission. But it can't be held against you because of your inadequate training.
