Let's play a little game of would you rather, startup edition

Here we go, so my would you rather question goes thus.

"Would you rather work for a big industry giant already established in the market with assured job security or a new and growing startup with less job security though a more promising future for your career if the startup's successful and plenty challenges that comes with growing a new business?

So that is my question for you and also for myself. Recently, I have been thinking a lot about what choice is the best when it comes to choosing between those two options should push ever come to shove.

You never know, that sort of opportunity might present itself.

In recent times though, I feel and stand to be challenged on this opinion that a lot of us tend to lean towards the latter option because it tends to give off a promise of an exciting career and experience building in different problem solving scenario.

Well, that might be the right to some extent but on taking a closer look into this bone of contention I have come to realize that this is not always the case.

While big companies are perceived as being robotic due established processes and less diversity of tasks leaving little chances for discovery and learning new approaches to business more often than not it is not usually considered that most of these big companies could not have gotten so big if they didn't learn new ways of doing business constantly and consistently over the years.

Even if they already have an established process a lot can still be learned from the old ways which can then be improved and tapered off to usher in a new age of fresh approaches ti business.

The insight gotten through working experience in any big company can be a huge asset if it is applied to operations in a smaller growing startup.

Therefore in my opinion it is wise to first of all work for/with a bigger company while starting out in ones career in order to gain experience.
