In late December a year ago, Dr. Li Wenliang started cautioning authorities about a coronavirus in Wuhan, China, however was hushed by the police before disastrously surrendering to the illness two months after the fact.

In the interim, at the same time, a PC server most of the way over the world began giving stressing alarms of a potential new outbreak.

The server runs a program by BlueDot, an organization situated in San Francisco that utilizes AI scan around the world for the possibility of a disease outbreak and give signs early enough to tackle the situation.

Despite the warnings a lot of deaf hears were turned which eventually caused the cases of the virus to soar around the world.

The surprising thing to note however is that BlueDot and other AI based programs were able to foresee the outbreak almost at the same time as humans did.

COVID-19 is the first worldwide pandemic to ever be detected by AI. In a straight on race, can AI really help with fastening the process of developing vaccines for COVID-19, if that happens it would be the first time for such?

Some stiudies were published recently which basically talks about how AI at its present capacity level can enable us to anticipate, analyze, and treat novel viral dangers.

However for the present, don't look to AI to help handle COVID-19; it's basically not prepared.

So, it will be of great value to examine how AI companies are using thier technology to help fight the crisis.
