Excellent post, I really enjoyed it because I'm actually a computer engineering college dropout. I left because I felt that I didn't learn things that are important for a job in the world these days - I am now saving up to but three courses at Udacity - Software engineering for Robotics, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence (then maybe Data Analytics if I can afford it). Currently, I'm starting out my career as an entrepreneur (I'm running a freelance ICO marketing strategy development business, and also do white paper analysis with an agency), and I am also trying to turn Steemit into a business through my project, the Steemit Success Initiative. We plan to open up a Blogger's hub in Dublin, Ireland, which will be a haven for blogger's where we try to get some big YouTubers and blogger's on Steemit, as well as run weekly workshops for beginners. Currently, we are looking for delegations in order to reward undervalued content, and to earn money to put towards our bloggers hub.
Anyway, I really enjoyed your story, as I feel that I'm in a similar position to what you were in before. I'm only 19, so I have a lot of time and I am not worried. It took a lot of courage to do what you did, and it seems to have payed off - you are definitely a person that I look up to in terms of success.
Regarding Steem Smarter, I think that there are a few things that could be really useful for the project - maybe showing users the best time to post based on when their followers are most active? I don't know how good your data analysis is or if that's even possible, but I know that that is a feature that I would use. As well as that, maybe a tool for more advanced Steemians could be a tool that shows who has made the longest combined comments from week to week - I've seen one or two people so this before, but have not seen a tool that calculates it.
Thanks again for everything that you've done, I would be more than happy to get involved with your business if you need more bodies on board.
Hey Luke,
Fellow (two time) dropout here. Best thing I ever did was drop out of my prestigious journalism + design programs and seek real-world experience!
I'm one of the co-founders of @SteemSmarter and was hoping you could elaborate on your second suggestion "who has made the longest combined comments from week to week". What does this mean? Do you remember those tools?
We're always looking for beta testers on our new products, let me know if you want to be added to our list. :)
Hey! Interesting - what did you pursue after those degrees? Would love to talk more about that.
I think it was @penguinpablo - I'm not 100% sure as it was a few months back, but basically he found out who's comments over the past week combined on his posts were the longest, so he knew who was making the longest comments. If you're looking for some cool data analytics, @eroche is the guy to go to, he does some really good analyses which you can check out on his page.
Yeah for sure, I'd love to be! Happy to help and get involved in any way that I can :)
