The Founder
When it comes to money, businessmen will do whatever they can to get their hands on it. In this story, a businessman did that very thing to achieve a goal he did not know of until he saw it with his own eyes. Ray Kroc was this businessman trying to get his milk-machine small drive-in business to spread across the country. However, it was not a hit, leaving Ray Kroc desperate. I feel that the sense of survival came into play in a specific aspect. The urge to find something that works and is efficient is what every business person wants in their life. So Ray Kroc did precisely what a businessman should do. He observed and put forth the action the two brothers could not do on their own.
Ray Kroc found McDonald’s on what he thought was a coincidence when a small business ordered some of his milkshake machines. Ray then called the restaurant to see if this was true, and it was! Right then, he decided to drive to this small business and saw a relatively small stand with tremendous potential. He could not believe what he was seeing as many o citizens of the community were standing in line to get their hands on the food the stand was selling. Now, why is that? Could it be that there were just hungry people around? Or could it be that it was fast and you did not have to wait in ridiculously long lines where you were not too sure if your order would come out right? The attraction from the public was outstanding, and Ray Kroc wanted to know the motive behind it all. After talking to the brothers ( Richard McDonald and Maurice McDonald), he found out that they were businessmen as well, who found their food stand to be the most successful thing they had done. The menu offered three things: a hamburger, fries, and a milkshake.
Three things, and that was it. There was no confusion, no hardships with utensils used, etc. In time, Ray Kroc asked the brothers to expand and franchise their food stand, and when they were not all for it at first, they eventually came around and made a deal with Ray Kroc. While it took time, Ray Kroc worked on opening new stands, only this time, McDonald’s was going to be bigger than ever. Without a doubt, McDonald’s was a hit. The general public became such a fan, and the name grew. There Is a great deal of supply and demand, you give the people what they want, and it falls into place almost like magic.
With all that being said, eventually, after business and house trouble, Ray Kroc took over the newly franchised restaurant. He kept the name “McDonald’s” as he felt it was an all-American sounding name. Now, to this very day, McDonald’s can be found worldwide and enjoyed by us human society. This story is the perfect lining for bringing entrepreneurship and society together as one.
