What can we do in everyday life to reduce environmental impact? There are several things. Here are some suggestions
shipments
Go, ride a bike or ride collectively as often as you can instead of driving a car. One third of CO2 emissions in Sweden comes from traffic.
Coach to and from work, school or meetings.
Use fuel-efficient cars or cars powered by alternative fuels, such as ethanol.
Take a course in "frugal driving" and learn to drive fuel-efficiently. It also saves money.
Be sure to have the correct air pressure in the tire of the car. With the correct air pressure, the car rolls easier and less fuel is used.
Go train instead of flying domestic.
Energy in the household
Buy and use energy efficient household appliances. Energy classes A, A + or A ++ are energy lowest.
Use low energy lamps.
Lower the indoor temperature. With a lower indoor temperature, you reduce the heating costs by about 5%.
Save on the hot water. Put wiping nozzles on the faucets and shower.
Use a lid when boiling or using a kettle. Kettle can halve energy consumption and runs faster compared to boiling on the stove.
Your TV and video turn power into standby mode, completely turn off your devices by pulling out the plug or turning off the TV directly instead of the remote control.
Frozen the freezer at regular intervals. A frozen frost draws less energy. Vacuum cleaner behind the freezer and refrigerator, so energy is also saved.
Turn off the lighting when leaving the room.
Buy Good Environmental Choice, which comes from renewable power sources, such as wind, water and sun.
Act
Check where the goods in the store come from. Please choose after-production.
Buying eco-labeled goods, such as the Swan and Good Environmental Choice, is an easy way to choose products with little or small environmental impact
Buy organic foods. The KRAV brand is found on products that are ecologically grown or products from animals that are better off.
Drink tap water instead of buying bottled water. The bottled water is transported far, which causes unnecessary environmental impact. In Sweden we have useful, good water in the tap.
Choose a product with as little unnecessary packaging as possible.
Waste
Leave old and left medicines to Apoteket
Leave all end-of-life batteries in the battery bay or to your environmental location. The motive is to prevent emissions to the environment of the toxic heavy metals cadmium, mercury and lead. A good alternative to disposable batteries are rechargeable batteries. Pay attention to all "hidden" built-in batteries, such as cordless devices, calculators and greeting cards.
Sort your packages and leave them for recycling at a recycling station. All wrapped packages will be new goods, new packaging or energy.
Never pour chemicals into the drain. They shall be returned to the recycling center as hazardous waste.
Leave your incandescent lamps, low energy lamps and fluorescent lamps to the recycling center. They contain hazardous metals that are addressed.
Do not waste any rubbish in the wild and please pick up rubbish you see outside.
Return your old tires to the tire dealer when buying new tires.
Clean / wash
Preferably clean without chemicals, such as with a microfiber cloth. A dry microfiber cloth on a long-hand mop can replace the vacuum cleaner on hard floors. With liquid and any detergents it is a good brush.
Choose ecolabelled detergents.
Do not buy drugs containing chlorine.
Strunta in all special cleaners. Some tips on other methods: T-red removes difficult stains on linoleum floors, vinegar or citric acid removes coatings on the toilet and tiles, windows are clean with detergent, the oven becomes clean with soap that may last for a while on low heat.
Do not overdo detergent and detergent. It's both bad for nature and for the dishes and washing machines. Check out the hardness of the water you have in your area, ask the municipality. On the detergent package there is a dosage suitable for different hardness on the water.
Do not wash in unnecessarily high temperatures. With today's detergent, it will be most clean at 40-60 degrees.
