30 minutes ago, the city of Port Harcourt was flooded with rain and ice cubes. A friend captured the video and I wish to share it here with you. It is already on facebook.
This is the first time it happening again after a long while. While growing up in the Northern part of Nigeria, we have seldomly seen ice cubes fall while it rains.
Well, I went online to search for the name of this type of rain mixed with ice cubes and what could be the possible cause. I got confused! Lol!
Some described it as;
Ice cube rain
Ice pellets rain
Sleet Rain
Hail rain
It is believed that it usually happens when the weather is very cold.
Watch the video on YouTube.

Wow! I was scared for the wind screen of the car. Never experienced this before.
Yeah, I would have been scared too if I was there.
Its pretty impressive. I imagine that the ice cubes make a big noise hitting the pavement and the windshield. It happened quite a few times so i'm more used to it, but i always had the idea that Nigeria was a very warm country and that something like that didn't happen there. :)
Yeah, Nigeria is warm, but we have a few cold regions.
Yes oo like Jos.
That place ehh is American in Nigeria..
You can't ever think of using cold water to bath...
Such things do happen in Nigeria indeed😀. I'll like to experience this someday.
Oya start fasting and prayers! Lol!
Me I would like to experience this kind of rain on a Monday morning oo, so I won't have to work that day.😁😁
For real??
I know some people that will say this is end time signs ooo... Hahahahaha
Hahahaha! End time indeed!
Seriously? I've not seen or heard anything like ice cube rain, I guess this is as a result of well you know climatic weather condition that seems irregular in the atmosphere @ogoowinner
It used to fall in Kaduna when we were kids.
You lived in kaduna?

Never experienced it.... It must be an awesome sight to see, that's if it's not falling on your head...
Climatic change. This is not even snow oooo... But ice, something that used to happen mainly in the north.
Lol. It's always cool to watch those fall although it's something that happens once in a blue moon. I have been privileged to see it twice.
Wow! This is so serious.
I've seen it falling here sometimes ago, but the ice wasn't that big, they disappear almost immediately you pick them up, I don't give any meaning to it then.lol
Your friend must be very smart and attentive to think of recording it. Smile
Thank for sharing with us dear lady ogoo
This is none like the ones I've seen before. This will probably stay some minutes in my palms before melting away!
It is hail stone
Happened in Nigeria particularly in the North sometime

The climate change this time around get has ebi o
As beautiful as it looks, I hope it doesn't hurt someone walking in it. It's a beautiful sight though. We most times don't know how to react to new developments as this because we don't know the eventual turn out. Well, I hope bigger ice won't fall soon. Thanks for sharing the video @ogoowinner
Take care dear very unusual to see this not happen very often
The rain is wonderful, he and we in Ukraine are very necessary. But only without hail.
This is a mystery beyond human comprehension. Thanks for sharing.
Like seriously! I was at work when the rain started to fall at about 2pm. Never knew it was raining ice somewhere else.. This is interesting.
Wow! I wished it falls in delta cos the heat especially in the afternoon was something else.
@ogoowinner, this is very surprising, I haven't witness this before, NIGERIA is about to experience a supernatural event. lols
Ice cube rain, we need this rain here in uyo, the weather here is really hot.
I love playing in this kind of rain...it's fun...let have fun together.
Reminds me when I was a kid. It rained ice once we ran out, collected them and lick despite my mum continuous shouting. Then I and my sister fell ill the next morning from the cold.
