We are on a cliff edge. At the moment the UK government is accountable to citerzans through the European Commission who monitors member states implementation of environmental rules and targets. When we leave the EU the government becomes accountable only through Judcial Review, which is no where near as friendly and easy for the everyday person to use as the current system.
It should be noted that businesses and organisations and individuals will still be monitored by current public environmental bodies and regulators, but the governments own targets and commitments to the environment in the uk as a whole will be extremely difficult to enforce or will be vulnerable to change without accountability for actions and the impact it has on the environment we share.
It’s one of those small nuances to brexit that could have huge implications for generations to come.
Looks beautiful!
