We have lots of problems with rubbish in Thailand, too. There are very few rubbish bins on the streets of Bangkok and people just throw away litter everywhere cause they can't find any bins. I don't know why nobody solved the problem but I think people like you are needed in my country to make a change! :)

What about the bins in one's own flats ... if you put the waste there, is there any litter service which is collecting the garbage of the households? In that case, even if it's very annoying (and should be changed) that there are no public waste baskets, I would take the waste with me until I am back home to dispose of it there.
Yes, of course, we have a service like that and it is usually very clean around my place, for example. Yes, that's what I usually do, I always keep the litter in my bag until I get back home. :)
That's great ... everybody should do that, but unfortunately so many people seem to be completely irresponsible (or let's say 'brainless') ...
