I just created my account over on Golos, the process was a bit choppy, but they do not send a pin to your phone... once you put in your number it will give you a code with a number you send it to. Then the website lets you continue with your account name, etc to complete the setup.
FYI: When I clicked the button to complete my account, it waited for about a minute and gave an error message. I opened Golos again in a second window and it showed my account was actually created successfully. They seem to have some of the network broadcast errors Steemit was fighting with last month.
