@dan announced in the EOS telegram group that he's working on a new social media platform that will use the EOS blockchain after it launches in June this year.
I'm looking forward to this.
Prepare your flags and strap your seat belts on boys and girls. Expect a bumpy road ahead once the whale wars start between the large STEEM holders and the large EOS holders.
Although there are a few other social media sites that use a cryptocurrency and a similar model to Steemit, this Steemit platform still leads the pack when it comes to a decentralized alternative to the Facebooks and reddits of the internet. Once Steemit 2.0 is launched on EOS, Steemit 1.0 will finally have a real competitor and I have my doubts that it will continue to stay ahead of the game.
To go a bit on a tangent here, personally, I'm a bit disappointed with Steemit. Two years have passed since it launched and the user retention rate is really low. I say this because recently I've went through my followers list and found out that at least 2/3 of them haven't used their account in 2 months or more (most in 4 or 5 months or more). In my view, that's really low, especially for a social media platform which this site wants to be.
If you have the time then I encourage you to do the same exercise and check your followers accounts one by one and verify this for yourself. I very much doubt this is unique to my case.
The remaining third of my followers is mostly accounts that have been downvoted to a really low reputation, accounts that sell upvotes or resteems, accounts that post really low quality content (you know the kind of posts I'm talking about) and just a handful of accounts that have users that seem to understand what communication and interaction really mean. That's why I decided to follow back only 11 followers from the almost 1500 I currently have. That's less than 1%.
I'll finish here because I don't want this post to turn into or be seen as a FUD post.
I want to remind you that it's extremely easy to become blind or see but choose to ignore the faults or negatives of the things we are invested in. This is especially true to this crypto-sphere we are involved in at the moment. We tend to become really tribal when we feel a danger to our monetary investments. It's important to not forget to stay as grounded and view things as objective as you possibly can.
Eos is really gaining momentum by the day
Aside myetherwallet which is a better simplified alternative in registering and holding?
THX...i'm looking forward to this!
