in #eos7 years ago (edited)

Many Crypto-enthusiasts have been waiting for this moment. EOS is finally starting its Main-Net.

Following EOScountdown.com there were even fireworks, and telegram channels were having parties like the new year is coming. Yeah!

After seconds though, the first callout "they are dumping it!", Well, that seems to be the end of the party for now. While many people expected that, amid the massive change, mayor exchanges would halt trading of EOS, they just continued.

While all EOS tokens outside the exchanges are frozen, for now, the trading fun is happening in closed shops. Nothing you can do if you are holding your EOS in a compatible wallet waiting for your Airdrops and 1-n new EOS Tokens.

In fact, the price has been recovering already.

Lean back, wait and hope!

There is also still some hours left to register your wallets! Just run and do it now. It is also very important to validate if the registration was successful.

I found www.eosauthority.com very useful to do so. Just enter your ETH public key, and you will receive the registered EOS-Address, your username (btw. this might have changed lately due to a name change for the genesis snapshot) and the balance of EOS held in your ETH wallet right now.

Indeed it feels a little strange to know that your current ERC-20 tokens are worthless from now.

We all trust in an organization that, as consequence of total decentralization, decided to not be part of the further operation of the Tokens themselves. Of course, they will be involved and provide the codework for EOS, but the entire process of the network now lies in other hands. To be fair, running on Ethereum was comparable as the majority of transactions were managed by a small group of pools and companies. It still feels different though.

While moving from PoW to PoS is excellent, it will most likely take a moment until everything is settled.

There is one fact that was getting very clear during the last weeks, Crypto and Blockchain are still experts-business. Thousands of times there were comments on Telegram, Twitter, and steemit wondering what will happen, how to register the wallets, and if or if not, exchanges would support the swap. I haven't seen so much FUD in my crypto life so far.

While voting for EOS representatives is a critical component of the new setup, the required tools for it are also able tools for now. The command line tool is somewhat technical, while I found a voting website would need you to add your private key. Additionally, you would be able to utilize Scatter to access voting, which will also require the private key to register. (I am extremely cautious with the private keys as anybody should be, it often just does not feel right)

It is apparent that you have to spend significant time reading blogs, steemit and other media, even GitHub, to benefit from all facets of cryptocurrencies. There is still a long way to go for usability, transparency, and education for this market.

In fact here are some further details from EOS Canada outlining the roadmap and additional steps. Thanks for that:

I trust that this will improve over time, for now, it might also be one reason why many females are not too interested in crypto since they tend not to be attracted by the complexity.

For now, I am excited to see what happens the next days.
