Check out the post I wrote recently about EOS.
There is a theory going around that EOS will flash crash Ethereum when it releases June 30. EOS owns 10% of all Ethereum tokens. Block.One may choose to dump all their Ether coins to buy back EOS from the initial investors. This would crash Ethereum and pump EOS hard, likely pushing it to the #2 coin on the market cap with ease.
Interesting thought... I will check your post. Doesn't seem fair that EOS is using Ethereum for distribution, without ETH the crowdsale would be hindered.

EOS is definitely an interesting platform and you can't argue about Dan Larimer's. However there is probably too much hype around EOS and the air drop right now so probably best to wait a bit and let the dust settle.

Ethereum can currently only run one operation at a time. This is because for Ethereum every single node must execute the same transactions. Utilizing parallelization, EOS can run multiple operations at the same time. The clear problem EOS is solving is scalability, but is it giving something else up in return? Yes, more on that later.

EOS Venture Capital
Block.One announced they now have over 1.1 billion dollars in funding. That’s a combination from the crowdfund and big VCs investing in Block.One. This was expected but now it’s official.
Another thing that was expected and got confirmed is a 1 billion dollar fund for investment in companies/dApps that will work with EOS. Is this big news? Well, at least it’s a very big commitment to the EOS ecosystem. Imagine Google providing 1 billion dollar to app developers even before Android was launched.. Or Apple releasing a test-iPhone promising to invest 1 billion dollar in Apps in 2006…. If you think about it that way it’s actually an amazing decision by Block.One. Now of course this isn’t a “dApp-builder-airdrop”. EOS VC will invest in these companies with the goal to make money. But still though it’s definitely something that can fire up the ecosystem and good for us as users. EOS VC will work with other VCs and the first partnership with announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

I don't think we have seen anything just yet with EOS. This is arguably one of the most promising coins of 2018, I wouldn't be surprised to eventually see it crack the top 3. I bought into EOS when it was around $1, so I am not complaining right now.
