EOS Hackathon: IDPASS wins $100k Prize

With the recent launch of EOS.io by Block.one, the question on everyone’s mind is “How will EOS change the world?”. The short answer is: dApps, or Decentralized Applications. In the past years as the crypto market has grown we’ve seen a number of dapps pop up, all aiming to use the latest technology to solve problems. Block.one recently held their first [EOS Global Blockchain Hackathon]( with $1.5M in prizes to be split up across 5 events. IDPASS, a blockchain identity dApp, winning a $100,000 1st prize last month in Hong Kong on the first stop of the EOS Global Hackathon Tour put on by Block.one.

Congratulations to the EOS Global Hackathon Hong Kong Winners!

IDPASS is an EOS dApp focusing on helping undocumented people to gain access to important resources they wouldn’t otherwise be afforded. Placing medical information, birth certificates and other identification documents on the blockchain can help give access to healthcare, emergency services and protect against identity fraud all over the world, especially the places that need it most.

In cases of natural disaster, where multiple countries step in to assist the confusion can pile on quickly when documents have been lost to damaged homes, or there are language barriers. IDPass can help rescue workers and medical staff identify individuals without the need for much more than a voluntary retina scan to find an identity on the EOS Blockchain, where information such as allergies and next of kin information can be found to better help the person in need.

The world needs apps like IDPASS, to not only help undocumented people, but to help show the real power and potential of blockchain technology on the EOS network. Congratulations to the IDPASS team!

More Hackathons to Come

Next stop on the EOS Global Hackathon is in Sydney on August 4th, followed by a stop in London on September 22nd, where more dApp teams will meet to pitch their ideas, and compete for another $100,000 prize. Stay tuned for more coverage of the winners here.

Seems as though there were quite a few good ideas for projects there. Great to see the community coming together like that. Very inspiring.

Hi @cypherglass and Rob! Do you still believe EOS will be 1,000 by the end of the year?

I would like to believe this, because I agree with you on the airdrops roi and the dapps needing to stake eos, and the huge project eos is.

However, the fact that the total market cap needs to be several trillions, its what keeps me thinking.

Do you believe this kind of huge investment is coming to crypto?
