EOS Germany's comment on "EOSIO RAM Market & Bancor Algorithm"

in #eos6 years ago

This is a comment to Daniel Larimer's article posted on Medium.

EOS Germany thinks that RAM Market should operate as a Commodity Futures Market.
The workflow should look like as follows:

  • Block Producer Candidates sells a Future Contracts of RAM, where the expiry date is the day when the RAM is made available on the system, and the EOS from the contract sale goes to the BPCs selling.
  • On expiry the RAM is "delivered" to the current contract owner, and can no longer be traded, only be used.

We are not sure about the size of the contracts, as smaller contracts have more overhead, but too big contracts potentially means an unaffordable price. But we think somewhere between 50kB and 1MB is reasonable.
