EOS Oceania reviewed the EOS Vote Tracker from @eosmediterranean and found the process quite simple and easy follow for users. We will be demonstrating it bellow.
What do you need to vote?
Basically 2 things...
- EOS tool/client that is able to vote (sending broadcast messages signed by your private keys) - We will use Scatter (by @nsjames) for the purpose of the demonstration.
- An easy way to browse through all Block Producers (BPs) information and select the ones you wish to cast the vote for - Here we will use the EOS Vote Tracker (https://votetracker.io)
Step 1: Install and import keys into Scatter
Make sure you are using the latest version of Scatter (GitHub), the Scatter Desktop. They are now using a multi-platform binary available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Download the version that suits your platform, install it, and create your new Scatter Desktop account. You will need to add your private key and create an Identity associated with that key. The new version is not compatible with the previous one, for example, backups will not work across and using both at the same time is also not supported.
Either way, you are still able to use the current deprecated browser extension or the Desktop version. We have tried the two options and it worked for both as you will see in the transactions details further below. Regardless of what anyone says, do your own research (it's always healthy) first, but try to use the most recent version that should avoid major roadblocks or security problems.
Step 2: Vote for your favourite Block Producer candidate
Bellow is the example of how @forykw votes for @eosoceania, "eosoceaniabp" account on EOS.
1. Head to EOS Vote Tracker and click on "Attach on Account" (top right corner) to attach to a Scatter account:
2. Select and Accept the Identity:
Via Scatter "classic" extension
Via Scatter Desktop
3. A new status (over the https://votetracker.io webpage) will appear, saying that you are logged in:
4. Click on the "Vote" button (check image of step 1) to cast your Staked EOS as vote weight for your favourite BP:
5. An approval for your cryptographic signature will be requested where you will be able to validate all the information before broadcasting it to the network:
Via Scatter "classic" extension
Via Scatter Desktop
Here are some proofs
@forykw submitted two independent transactions with "ffoorryykkww" account to vote for "eosoceaniabp": one (block #22752391) with the Scatter Desktop edition and another (block #22752800) with the classic Scatter, using the EOS "ffoorryykkw" account.
Because the "ffoorryykkww" account had only 6 EOS staked (at the time of the transactions), the vote weight was equivalent to that same number. Although, if you at any time change the amount of Staked EOS on your account, your votes will change accordingly to your actual stake.
I still need help!
If you would like to use the information above but either feel uncomfortable, have questions or need more advice/guidance, feel free to contact us via any of the social networks available at our website. We will be glad to help you out.
And remember, don't forget to vote weekly if you can. This way you will guarantee that your vote decisions will be always at the maximum weight possible.
Disclaimer:
The real look/appearance of the images above might change as @eosmediterranean further develop their website. If you find any problems, please check first Vote Tracker GitHub and report them if no one has already. Everyone will benefit from it!
