I wonder if there could be provisions made to buy EOS with OPEN.ETH which is available on Bitshares at https://bitshares.openledger.info/market/OPEN.ETH_BTS
You mentioned that some Steemit and Bitshares people preferred to use those platforms in the ICO and maybe it is possible to use Bitshares via OPEN.ETH. Just throwing this out there without really knowing if it is viable!

Thanks for reading! Honestly I have never used Bitshares at this point, and I have been meaning to learn more about the Bitshares DEX and how exactly the tokens work and trade. I have a feeling that you are right if the OPEN.ETH can interact directly with the Ethereum network and not through an intermediary. There might be a difficulty if the OPEN.ETH do not correspond to a personal ETH address.
