Major EOS delay is likely due to undisclosed bugs

in #eos6 years ago (edited)

The minutes of the this mornings meetings can be found here in a post from @aclarkuk82.

There was also a live stream video of a block producers meeting. In the video several Block Producers brought up the many $10k bug bounties that were found. Apparently the details of these bugs haven't been disclosed. It sounds like several block producers including @eos-canada believe these undisclosed bugs could cause a p0 or 01 bug.

There seems to be a desire to delay the launch until the block producers receive a report on the bugs above from Block One.

I was watching a video stream of the meeting and it was suddenly taken down. The funny thing is that the last thing being said was some BPs was that the meeting shouldn't be streamed without a vote among all the BPs, guess he didn't realize he was live.

I'm glad someone in there is making the process more transparent by putting out the video, though it is gone now, likely do to pressure from the BPs who don't want to let it out.

Video now censored/removed

While you can't watch the video now, I will give my impression... EOS is unlikely to launch this week due to the bugs reported and rewarded $10k. Even the BPs don't know the details of these bugs.

If that is the case there will be major implications for example the pushing back of the Hackathon scheduled for this weekend.

Update: the blockproducer who live streamed has removed all videos previously on his account, username eosbschool.

All bugs we are aware of were fixed prior to 1.0.1

Going to participate in the bug bounties? Hackathon?

Might try ... not good enough to win but could be fun making a mini-game or something.

Let's hope they fix these issues. Block one have the required resources to get it done, pushing back the hackathon would be a blow to investor confidence for sure.

Great post, always good to get feedback from a developer.

Someone responded in telegram saying even if the mainnet doesn't go live the hackathon will still happen ... that said kind of takes away from it if viewers and people at home can't use the Dapps.

They could still use dapps, with fake tokens on a test net.
