The same people may also be buying them from EOS.io directly. But keep in mind, you don't know exactly what price or quantity you'll get from EOS.io until after the current period closes. Whereas from exchanges you know exactly what price you're getting them and quantity. Think of buyers who believe accumulating EOS sooner than later is a good strategy.

also for the traders that don't have the time to follow the technical procedure and risk making a mistake which could result in them losing their investment into the EOS ICO. At least with an exchange they know what to expect when they trade for the EOS.

But that brings back to the first question, if it was illegal for EOS to sell to USA, why would kraken be allowed to sell securities to us??

Maybe they don't know that they can buy from Eos.io
