Analytics company MicroStrategy owns a stellar portfolio of cool domain names, which we have profiled on the blog in the past. Alongside names such as Emma.com, Hope.com and Alert.com is the highly valuable Voice.com domain. Block.one the company behind EOS bought it for 30 million USD.
What articles dont say is the use of domain - a social network on EOS which initial idea was STEEM.
STEEM is a better brand name. All it needs are batter marketing and mass onboarding.
30 million seems like a steep price to pay for a domain. Yes it makes sense from a branding and ease of use but 30 mil could have been used to make an epic site alone. I guess money is not an issue for block.one
How many months or years could a Zeppelin have been flying for months or years with the publicity of the project. IMAGINE. But yes, too much money invested in something not necessary.
Sounds like a smart business move. Buy the domain name that doesn't confuse people. It's smart the buy "voice.com" especially if you want normies to understand wtf they are doing.
I don't like this one bit.
There isn't any money making ideas behind voice.
It is a plan to make the tokens have more worth/value so that they can be sold for more, but that really doesn't work well when you are trying to recoup real dollar expenditures.
Further, i wonder if this is one of those payouts, oh yeah, you helped us out, so we are giving something back. Or just money laundering.
That exactly!
